Position Description:
This position will support the Office for Socially Engaged Practice to provide expertise, technical assistance, and project management for community-driven projects and initiatives in the St. Louis region. This position will have the opportunity to lead design/build projects and assist Sam Fox faculty who are engaged with community design research, projects, and/or installations. The ideal candidate will be able to manage community design partnerships, including but not limited to the supervising on-site construction, direct contractors and vendors, obtain regulatory approvals, prepare and manage project schedules and budgets. The project manager will be able to verbally and digitally communicate design concepts to a variety of stakeholders including community organizations, individuals, partners, and faculty. Assist in other related OSEP operational and programming when appropriate. The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis is a unique collaboration in architecture, art, and design education within the context of an internationally recognized research university. Comprising the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design, the College and Graduate School of Art, and the Mildred Lane Kemper Museum, the Sam Fox School offers a depth of professional education in conjunction with one of the premier university art museums. The School has a strong commitment to social justice, environmental justice, and community-based work, and supports a diverse population of approximately 225 graduate students and 530 undergraduate students in the school.
